Pictures by Marc Chagall, Lucian Freud and Mark Rothko are among the works on show at the Pushkin Museum, on loan from the Museum of Avant-Garde Mastery set up by Vyacheslav Kantor, the head of the European Jewish Congress. The exhibit, named “My homeland exists only in my soul” after a famous Chagall poem, focuses on artists like Chagall, who were never restricted to their place of birth.
