The European Jewish Congress calls on the European Union and leaders of European nations to unequivocally condemn the barbaric murder of Yosef Salomon, his daughter Chaya and son Elad as they were celebrating a Sabbath dinner together on Friday night (21 July) in Halamish.
“This bestial hacking to death of three unarmed and innocent people as they celebrated the Sabbath is unquestionably evil and must be condemned by the European Union and leaders of all European nations,” Dr. Moshe Kantor, President of the EJC, said. “There is no justification and no comparison for these barbaric murders.”
“We hope that Europe will back Israel as it seeks to increase safety and security for all peoples of the region, be they Muslim, Christian or Jew, especially on the Temple Mount, and not pressure Israel because of further wild incitement to violence.”
The escalating violence in the region began when three Palestinian terrorists armed with guns murdered two Israeli policemen who were guarding an entrance to the Temple Mount. The Israeli Government then ordered the installation of metal detectors at the entrance to the Temple Mount, which was rejected by many Palestinians.
The European Jewish Congress and the Jewish communities of Europe extend their deepest condolences to the families of those killed and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.
