EJC Secretary General Promoted To Officer Of French Legion Of Honour

On March 21, 2008, French Minister of Immigration Brice Hortefeux signed a decree to promote Serge Cwajgenbaum, Secretary General of the European Jewish Congress, to the rank of Officer of the Legion of Honour, France’s highest decoration, in recognition of his merits, expertise and experience in promoting tolerance and respect for the rights and freedoms of all races and faiths, as well as of his contributions to strengthening the Jewish communities throughout Europe.

Mr. Cwajgenbaum’s promotion was timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel.

President of the European Jewish Congress Moshe Kantor and the rest of the EJC leadership extend their congratulations to Mr. Cwajgenbaum and wish him long and fruitful service.
